Abstract

This paper presents analytical results on outage probability performance for simultaneous wireless information and power transfer systems. In order to increase the capacity and coverage, we use a cooperative relay-aid network with spectrum sensing and energy harvesting (EH), which provides a better quality of service. A decode-and-forward relay is able to decode the received signals and to harvest energy from ambient sources at the same time by using a power splitting scheme. We also consider a nonlinear EH model that captures the nature characteristic of the EH receiver. Based on that setting, we derive the outage probability of the received signal-to-noise ratio and the achievable throughput of the primary communication system. Numerical simulations demonstrate the validity of the analytical results.
