Abstract

In this letter, we investigate an outage constrained robust beamforming design for multicast multibeam satellite systems in the face of a phase error of channel state information. In light of practical issues from these systems, our design objective is to minimize the on-board sum power under the outage probability constraints for users and the power consumption constraints for individual feeds. To solve the nonconvex problem, we first develop an optimization scheme combining the Taylor series expansion with the bounding sphere method. Numerical results show that our proposed scheme for multicast multibeam transmission outperforms the existing approaches.
