Abstract
In this chapter the experiences of sexual minorities in competitive sport are considered. After demonstrating the link between masculinities, sexualities and sport, the chapter considers why there are no openly gay male professional cyclists, at the time of writing, and what available data suggests the experiences of sexual minorities, namely gay males, are like in the sport. It is highlighted that whilst individual attitudes towards, and experiences of, sexual minorities in cycling appear to be mostly positive there remains cultural and institutional issues in the sport.
