Abstract

Submitting my story to the New South Wales Select Committee inquiry into birth trauma was something I wanted to do in order to see changes implemented across the hospital system, not only for mothers but also for care providers. The birth of my first son in July 2020 was not only traumatic but also left me with emotional and physical scars which changed my faith in the hospital system and changed my faith in my body and its ability to birth unassisted, which is something I yearned for.
