Abstract

This article articulates specific tensions in discourse between Teacher Educator Researchers (TERs) and Teacher Researchers (TRs) while negotiating shared purpose within a research partnership. We focus on two discursive markers of tension that occured during a community conversation focused on developing shared understanding of partnership work: the use of "we" by TERs and TRs and the use of storytelling by TRs. Having provided a detailed description of these tensions, we yield some considerations to better understand how to navigate the tensions as they are constructed in real time partnership discourse.
