Abstract
This January 2023 issue of our journal features the first creation of the cover artist who will accompany The Lancet Infectious Diseases throughout the year: Sara Gironi Carnevale. Sara has won our annual competition of artists from all over the world with her striking and innovative image inspired by the article on malaria treatment among forest workers in Cambodia on page 81. Sara is the third Italian artist to win the competition in the last four years and only the second female artist to work with us and I am looking forward to working with her this year.
