Abstract

Bad manners are always out of style, but Dr. Richard Bland's retort on Dr. Barry Phillips' Letter to the Editor1 dramatizes the defect of intellectual pompousness. Quoting from "Folk Medicine" and a Bulletin from the Bishop Muscum is academically cute but irrelevant and irreverent. Dr. Phillips made a simple plea: consider milk allergy as a cause of recurring otitis media in infancy by substitution of a soybean formula for a trial period prior to polyethylene tube placement with or without adenotonsillectomy.
