Abstract

Objective The congenital craniofacial deformities are often manifested as hypoplasia of maxillary, zygomatic, mandibular, temporal and their related soft tissue. This paper is to search for a simple and practical operation by studying the Medpor implantation and observing the postoperative effect. Methods The surgery included both osteotomy and Medpor transplantation as a large scale filling stuff transfer under periosteum for hemi fical microsomia(3 cases) and simple mandibular hypoplasia (6 cases) reconstructi on. Results The result was satisfactory and showed a good nature skeleton facial outline. A half year follow-up visiting showed that the implan ts were stable and there were nouncomfortable feeling. The surgery has the advantates of short operation time, much less surgical trauma, and a quick recovery.Conclusion ⑴The M edpor can be used in large areas and various parts in one operation. ⑵It will be a good facial outline if the transplants are put deep to the muscles, and if put just under the subcutaneous tisse the material will be conglutin ation with superficial skin. ⑶The result will be more precise if the surgery is combined with osteotomy.
