Abstract

Statement of the Problem: Minimally invasive maxillofacial operations are carried out through small, remotely placed incisions with minimal soft tissue dissection and manipulation. While providing excellent visibility, these operations necessitate accurate preoperative planning with computer-based tools. Treatment success requires correct transfer of preoperative planning to the patient intraoperatively. Current surgical navigation systems require placement of fiducial markers before CT scan acquisition and immobilization of the head during the operation.
