Abstract

Osteoid osteoma has been reported in almost every bone of the skeleton, its common site in the bone of the foot is the talus. In our case a 15-year-old patient with ankle pain had been treated as a case of traction spur for about 1 year when the true cause was diagnosed by computerised tomography (CT) as an osteoid osteoma of the talus. The lesion was subperiosteal and at the juxa-articular region of the talar neck. This was excised through an anterior approach to the ankle, the patient was cured completely; follow-up for 3 years showed no recurrence.
