Abstract

Purpose: This study compared women who required surgery for carpometacarpal (CMC) joint osteoarthritis (OA) with women who did not have CMC joint OA in an attempt to explore whether possible risk factors such as occupations, hand postures, and tasks involving the CMC joint had an impact on this condition. If risk factors can be identified, then preventative measures in the workplace might be effective at reducing the occurrence of this condition.
