Ned A. Ostenso was the recipient of AGU's 1992 Ocean Sciences Award. He was recognized for his “long and significant service to marine science in the United States.” The presentation of the biennial award was made on January 29 during AGU's Ocean Sciences Meeting in New Orleans, La.
