Abstract

An analysis of records in parish baptismal registers of the parish of Zmajevac for the settlement Popovac in the northern part of southern Baranya for the period from 1755 until the end of the 18 th century has shown that there were no significant differ ences among male and female names, except for somewhat stronger nominal entropy among female names. In this period, the parish baptismal register recorded 47 different male and 23 different female names. All the names in the parish baptismal registers were recorded in the contemporary official language, Latin; all of them were Christian names.
