Abstract

AbstractXylem vessels in the lower part of the leaf of young Avena plants have been exposed to deformation by application of an external pressure. In this way a resistance to the water flow at the deformation site has been achieved, inducing undamped oscillations in transpiration and water uptake, even after removal of the root system.
