Abstract
We have observed the oscillatory magnetostrictions of LaB 6 and PrB 6 single crystals. The de Haas van Alphen frequencies in LaB 6 range from the order of 10 4 to 10 7 gauss an are related to the interconnecting neck orbit between spherical ellipsoids. In PrB 6 , only one de Haas van Alphen frequency of 1.4×10 6 gauss is observed. Both results agree well with the conventional de Haas van Alphen measurement but do not agree with the acoustic measurement.
