Abstract

Oscillations in the heat effect of the reaction and in the composition of the reaction products during the oxidation of carbon monoxide over Pd/Al 2O 3, Pd-Ce/Al 2O 3, and Pd-Co/Al 2O 3 catalysts under steady-state conditions have been studied. In situ infrared spectroscopy measurements identify the occurrence of different active sites and intermediate surface species during the oxidation reaction both in the oscillatory and non-oscillatory modes. Different types of oscillations, depending on the reaction conditions are described.
