Abstract

Using the recently established equivalence between disconjugacy of Sturm–Liouville difference equations and nonnegativity of the associated discrete quadratic functional we derive Leighton–Wintner–type and Nehari–type oscillation criteria for the two–term difference equation . Some extensions of these criteria to equations with middle terms and to linear Hamiltonian difference systems are also discussed.
