Abstract

We investigate the spatially homogeneous and isotropic FRW cosmological model with a time varying \(\varLambda \) term in Barber’s second self-creation theory. The field equations of this theory are solved by using a time periodic varying deceleration parameter \(q=m\cos kx -1\) with \(m\) and \(k\) being positive constants. From the derivation of the expressions for the statefinder parameters \(r\) and \(s\), it is obtained that the values of \(r\) and \(s\) of the present model can reduce to statefinder parameters of standard \(\varLambda \)CDM model \(r=1\) and \(s=0\) only when \(m=\frac{3}{2}\).
