Abstract

CRIEPI has developed the fiber-optic acoustic emission (AE) sensor that can be applied up to 600℃ and measurement system. The aims of this study are to develop practical sensor installation technique of the fiber-optic sensors for a high-temperature piping and to discuss suitable waveform analysis technique of optically detected AE signals. The wavelet-based signal processing has been applied to the detected signal by developed sensor to improve the accuracy of source location. This technique was applied to location of AE on piping and it was demonstrated that accuracy of our technique was less than ±4% (direct attachment) or ±25% (attachment on waveguide).
