Abstract

The performance of the ribbon type wind turbine was investigated in wind tunnel experimentally. The test was performed with changing the rotational speed of rotor for several wind velocity. Moreover, the velocity field around rotor was measured by an laser Doppler velocity meter (LDV). The areas for velocity measurement are both circumference of maximum diameter of blades and around wind turbine. The flow was visualized by using the measured velocity. As a result of velocity measurement around maximum diameter, it turned out that vortex was observed in the point of maximum diameter of blades. Furthermore, the stream tube around ribbon type rotor is shown and the velocity distribution in the rotor wake is shown.
