Abstract

This paper presents a translation of the Thoughts upon slavery , a work written in 1774 by John Wesley, an Anglican priest and spiritus rector of the Methodist movement. After a brief introduction to the current state of research regarding the text, details of the translation are presented, as for example, the indication of passages that rely on works of other authors and the implicit and explicit use of a biblical argument as a justification of natural law.
