Abstract

The text discusses the role of the media in Jesus Martín-Barbero’s thought. It is argued that the notion of mediation does not obscure its cultural, social l, and political agency, nor does it overlook the economic implications that govern and circumscribe its action. In his theoretical trajectory, in refuting the idea of mediacentrism, the author, while expanding, also balances his gaze on this important configurative instance of contemporary societies.
