Abstract

The theme addressed in this article is part of our professional master's degree research in Technological Education, now in progress, at IFTM - Uberaba campus. We present the 1988 Constitution as an initial milestone for the development of education in its human and integral form; we discuss the concept of human, integral or polytechnic education, where there is the possibility of exchanging these terms of dialogue with Ciavatta, Gramsci, Moura, Manacorda and Ramos. From this perspective we present the Federal Institutes, as holders of a policy focused on integral human formation since their creation; we point out some numbers that show the success of this teaching network, either in the expansion of attention, in access policies, or even in test results such as ENEM, ENADE or PISA. Although they are a reference for comprehensive training, these Institutes have been the target of attacks by the federal government itself.
