Abstract
The scandals of data leakage carried out by big corporations, impelled the debates about the necessity of a specific legislation to regulate the subject. In this sense, on April 15, 2016, the General Regulation for the Protection of Personal Data (GDPR), applicable to all countries of the European Union, was approved. Inspired by the GDPR, the General Law for the Protection of Personal Data (LGPD), is a regulatory framework for the subject in Brazil, implying major changes in the business sphere. Given the relevance of the subject, the present research aims to point out the main aspects of the new legislation in the daily business, especially with regard to the challenges for its implementation.
