Abstract

The papers of scientific workers at A. V. Shubnikov Institute of Crystallography published in the last decade and dealing with the olivine-like rare-earth germanates NaREGeO4 (RE=Gd, Y, and Lu) are reviewed. In particular, the physicochemical perculiarities of the formation and some data on growing these compounds in hydrothermal conditions and from the flux are surveyed. The results of the X-ray structural analysis — the basic atomic coordinates and all interatomic distances are presented. Special attention is given to luminescence properties and stimulated emission of Nd3+ ions in octahedral positions of the NaREGeO4 crystal structure.
