Abstract

This book deserves a wide popularity, for it fills a need for those who desire to keep abreast of the present day practice of children's orthopaedic surgery. The early chapters are organized anatomically: beginning with the foot, knee, hip, spine, upper extremity, and so forth. Later there follow chapters on defective formation of bone, affections of the skeleton, neurogenic disorders, affections of muscle, and finally malignant tumors. While the organization of the chapter on affections of the skeleton seems complicated, since it includes a mixture of benign tumors, infections, nutritional metabolic disorders, and so forth, it may be logical to organize the multiple lesions of this complex tissue in one chapter so that appreciation of the differential diagnosis is facilitated. There are a few statements regarding treatment with which this reviewer does not fully agree, but these are of minor importance. One of the best features of the book is
