Abstract
This article introduces a series on radiologic interpretation. The format of the series will ask and answer questions regarding a patient's history, objective data, and selected roentgenograms, with emphasis on x-ray findings. The goal will be to improve skills of observation and description of roentgen findings, rather than to formulate specific diagnoses. A major objective is to provide the nurse with more insight into the patient's condition through the use of x-ray, thus improving patient care and teaching. The series will begin with the present article which should serve as a basic introduction to x-ray interpretation. Subsequent issues will present cases including histories, physical findings, and select roentgenograms of a variety of orthopaedic patients.
