Abstract

Purpose. The aim of this case report is to describe accelerated orthokeratology for hyperopia and associated presbyopia with a customized contact lens. Material and Methods. Four-curve, spherical, reverse contact lenses were fitted with the assistance of topography, simu- lation of the fluorescein pattern of the first contact lens, and analyses from the orthokeratology literature. Fitting success was determined by comparing results before the first night and after the thirtieth night after orthokeratology. Results. After thirty nights of orthokeratolgy the best unaid- ed visual acuity for distance was 1.0 and for near 0.63. The dioptric power of the corneal surface was comparable with the dioptric power of a multifocal simultaneous contact lens. The success of unaided visual acuity could not completely explained by the corneal dioptric power. Orthokeratology in hyperopia was comfortable and without pathological changes on the cornea. Conclusion. Customized reverse spherical orthokeratology contact lenses could compensate hyperopia and associated presbyopia. Keywords Orthokeratology, hyperopia, presbyopia, reverse contact lens
