Abstract

In the application of multiple-input multiple-output radar systems, orthogonal signals are transmitted by multiple antennas independently. A set of orthogonal signals need to meet the correlation requirements only for some known time shifts that lie within a window called zero correlation zone (ZCZ). This paper presents two methods for generating new orthogonal ZCZ sequences based on an existing construction method for binary ZCZ sequences in communication. The former approach generates sequences that achieve different position and size of the zero correlation zones by optimizing the cyclic shift digit. The latter method generates ternary sequences by inserting several zeros into the binary ZCZ sequences, which have lower peak sidelobe level property and still have the ZCZ.
