Abstract

Recently, ultra wide band (UWB) techniques have drawn much attention from either the academic world or industry. A convenient signaling scheme, termed orthogonal on-off UWB (O/sup 3/ UWB), along with a simple one-shot linear decorrelating detector (LDD), is proposed in this paper. It is a technique for near-far resistant detection in asynchronous UWB systems. The temporally adjacent bits from different users in the receiver are decoupled by using the on-off signaling, and the data rate is maintained, with no increase in transmission rate, by adopting an orthogonal structure. In this paper, we study the system performance over a Nakagami-m fading channel. Numerical results show that O/sup 3/ UWB LDD can offer a good near-far resistant property over a Nakagami-m fading channel.
