Abstract

The pedestrian lower leg impactor model was established based on the finite element method and validated against test results. In the worst impact position of the front bumper, the tibia acceleration and bending angle were minimized via optimization design of steel energy absorber and lower bumper system. This paper can offer a direction for the further study and design of the steel energy absorber and lower bumper system in pedestrian protection.
