Abstract

Mosses have been used in many fields up to the present from the earliest years and continue to be used. But in our country, whether in the economic sense as well as in the ecological sense, mosses have not seen the value they deserve, has always been ignored. In this study; General Directorate of Forestry, from Department of Non-Wood Forest Products and Services In accordance with the data received, which the Regional Directorate of Forestry, In which year, harvest was made and how it has been demonstrated how much revenue obtained. In line with this data; about 184 tons of mosses were picked up per year from forest ecosystems. The maximum harvest amounts were in Balikesir, Izmir and Bursa Regional Directorate of Forestry. Any inventory work has not been carried out in those moss-harvested areas yet. While one kg of moss is sold at 0.5-1.5 ($) dollars abroad, the sale price is just about 0.11 (₺) TL in Turkey
