Abstract
A revision of the commonly-held view that the US Navy's maritime strategy of the 1980s is an innovative new concept designed to meet America's most recent defence needs. This book promotes the question of whether the American Navy's maritime strategy is a strategy rediscovered. It shows how the origins of America's maritime strategy actually streches back more than forty years ago in the strategic planning of naval thinkers after World War 2.
