Abstract

This article describes a survey conducted among orientation and mobility instructors concerning their geriatric blind and visually impaired clients. The questionnaire was designed to obtain information about (1) the clients’ medical problems, (2) the types and usefulness of support aids the clients used, and (3) the relevance of the instructors’ education to working with these clients. According to the results of the survey, a vast amount of research and rethinking of attitudes remains to be done in all three areas.
