Abstract

This review summarized and analyzed structural parameters of two hundred and fifty monomeric organoplatinum complexes with an inner coordination of cis- PtP2C2. These complexes crystallized in three crystal systems: orthorhombic (x34), triclinic (x81) and monoclinic (x135). These complexes from the coordination mode of the respective ligands can be divided into the six groups: only monodentate ligands are involved; two monodentate P-donor ligands with homobidentate- C,C ligands; homobidentate- P,P ligands with two monodentate- C ligands; homobidentate- P,P and C,C ligands; monodentate P and C ligands with heterobidentate- C,P ligands; and two heterobidentate- C,P ligands. The chelating ligands form wide variety of the metallocycles with ter-, four-, five-, six-, seven-, eight-, nine-, twelve-, fifteen-, sixteen-, twenty-, and even thirty two-membered rings. The most commons are (CC) and (PC2P) metallocycles. There are examples which exist in two isomeric forms, differing by degree of distortion and some also by crystal systems, and are examples of distortion isomerism. Several relationships were found and discussed.
