Abstract

AbstractThe effect of one type of molecule on another for chemisorption states on a platinum (111) surface is described. This effect was assayed from chemical displacement and thermal desorption experiments. Molecules studied in this fashion included CH3CN, CH3NC, C5H5N, P(CH3)3, CO, PF3, C6H6, and C2H4. The chemistry of Pt(111) is generally distinct from that of Ni(111) in both a qualitative and quantitative fashion.
