Abstract

The governance of collegiate esports is still developing, with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders offering governing activities and services such as rules of play, competitive structures, and services to assist new programs in getting started. This chapter explains how the current landscape of national esports governance is unfolding, including emerging interest by traditional college conferences and tournament organizers. It situates the issues and important considerations for leaders in higher education seeking to understand the current issues and influence the future of college esports governance.
