Abstract

This article describes the process by which a successful fund-raising event can be planned and staged by a nurse-midwifery organization. The recruitment and organization of the personnel necessary for a successful fund-raising effort are considered, and the three-phase planning effort leading up to the fund-raiser itself is described in considerable detail. Practical considerations are emphasized, and examples are drawn from an exceptionally successful fund-raising event held by a community organization supporting beleaguered nurse-midwives in Nashville, Tennessee.
