Abstract

This investigation examined relationships among white managers and professionals, between their perceptions of the treatment and experiences of minority managers in their organizations, and the openness and support of minorities by their organizations, and their own work experiences, satisfactions, and commitment. Data were collected from 214 men and women using questionnaires completed anonymously. White managers working in organizations perceived by them to be less responsive to minorities and offering minorities more negative work experiences themselves reported less satisfaction, commitment, and development.
