Abstract

The term organizational decision support system (ODSS) still has different meaning to different users. Though there is no consensus on ODSS definition, most users and researchers agree that an ODSS cuts across functions and hierarchies and integrate data, models and information technologies to support multiple users at the organizational level. Whether such systems currently exist or even feasible is a matter of debate. Earlier ODSS tracks at the Annual Hawaii International Conferences on System Sciences raised many interesting questions, like, what are the requirements for calling a system an ODSS? What are the technological requirements for an ODSS? What system architecture is best suited for an ODSS? Are there any existing ODSS? What are the implications of an ODSS for an organization? What social and cultural changes are brought about by an ODSS?
