The paper "Influence of Computer Communication Use and Network Structure on Work Networks and Performance in a R&D Organization" analyzes usage and network data among mentors and interns at a R&D organization for associations among communication networks and influences on interns performance. It is not how much one uses a system, but how one is located in that system's network, that most affects performance. The paper "Transaction Costs in Information Technology Mediated Exchange," evaluates the proposition that advanced information technology applications (IT) in interfirm relationships reduce the transaction costs of exchange. Using a sample of 166 insurance agencies employing interorganizational IT with a matched non-IT control group, transaction cost determinants are evaluated using discriminant analysis.
