Abstract
Population ageing is a natural process characterized by the increase in life expectancy and by a growth in the absolute number and proportion of elderly and senile persons in the population. These demographic changes increase the need for medical and social care among the people of this age group and require the development and implementation of new public policies.

Смертность среди мужчин выше смертности среди женщин во всех возрастных группах, вследствие чего соотношение полов в возрастной группе старше трудоспособного возраста имеет перевес в сторону женского населения
Для более тесного и плодотворного взаимодействия необходима разработка и принятие политических мер как на федеральном, так и на региональном уровнях, что, в свою очередь, требует изучения региональных особенностей состояния здоровья пожилых граждан и системы оказания медицинской и социальной помощи этой категории граждан и является перспективным направлением дальнейшего научного поиска
