Abstract

This symposium offers insights on the role of constraints in creativity and innovation processes within and beyond organizational boundaries. The presenters will share theoretical and empirical investigations of how constraints, such as time pressure, access to resources, and societal challenges affect and shape innovation processes. The research presented in this symposium will involve data collected from various research contexts, such as open innovation to solve societal problems caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in Germany and to develop medical devices to address the ventilator shortage problem around the world, teams competing in an internal innovation competition, creative teams working in the Hollywood animation industry, and creating a new culinary paradigm in fine-dining.
