Abstract

Semantic Web (WS) technologies can transform simple Web portals into semantic portals, facilitating a number of activities, like information organization, retrieving and sharing, among others. Semantic portals (PS) are characterized for storing and structuring information content with respect to specific domain ontologies. The present work complements an architecture which retrieves and instantiates information from the Web, based on a domain ontology, creating a semantic portal automatically fed with the retrieved data. Moreover, it proposes a way of classifying documents from the Web with respect to this ontology, based on the usage of open search engines and on the clustering of the resulting documents, seeking their exhibition on the portal, according to their classification within the ontology.
