Abstract

It is widely agreed that leadership and culture have important effects on enterprise resource planning (ERP) acceptance and critical for benefits realisation, but there is little study on the mediating role of organisational culture in the relationship between leadership and ERP adoption. The paper attempts to understand the cultural influences on ERP implementation success. Thereby, this paper attempts to review the studies related to the relationship between leadership, leadership in particular and IT effectiveness focusing on the role of organisational culture in this relationship. We study the dimensions of organisational culture relevant to ERP implementation and propose how these affect the adoption. We then propose a theoretical model and articulate a few propositions on how certain leadership competencies can influence organisational culture conducive to ERP implementation.
