Abstract
This article reports on an evaluation of the raw material resources for the commercially important organic sulfur compounds of petroleum, on the basis of results obtained in a study of the composition of organic sulfur compounds from ZapadnoSurgut, Samotlor, and Orenburg crudes. It focuses on the composition of 2 concentrates of organic sulfur compounds recovered from distillates. The organic sulfur compounds, which are represented by sulfides and thiophenes with practically no mercaptans or disulfides, are distinguished by a high level of thermal stability. The sulfides of the diesel distillates from this group of crudes are represented to the extent of 85-90% by thiocycloalkanes with various structures.
