Abstract

Oil sprays and excessive wax formation on apples complicate the removal of spray residue. When certain organic solvents such as alcohol, benzol, acetone, kerosene, etc., are added to the hydrochloric acid washing solution the residue is removed more effectively. Kerosene seems to be the most practicable for the purpose.
