Abstract

Fifteen organic reagents are reported which give color reactions with lewisite and/or ethyl dichloroarsine. Test-papers prepared with them may be used in identifying these arsenical vesicants. Ten of the papers give colors with ethyl dichloroarsine which distinguish this agent from lewisite or from the mustard vesicants; of these, five will also differentiate lewisite from the other toxics. Two papers give identifying color reactions with lewisite alone. Three give identical tests with the two arsenicals but do not react with vesicants of the mustard type.
