Abstract

A Lewis acid pigment solubilization (LAPS) process was introduced for the fabrication of organic pigment thin film devices. A wide range of heterocyclic pigments such as benzimidazole perylenes and phthalocyanines has been solubilized in nitromethane in the presence of a Lewis acid such as aluminum chloride. One should be able to fabricate a wide range of organic pigment thin films devices via LAPS, as we have demonstrated in this paper for the fabrication of organic photoconductors.
