Abstract

1. A series of oil-soluble organic molybdenum compounds has been synthesized and subjected to preliminary tests. 2. Addition of a sulfur-containing component to complexes of molybdenum gives only a slight improvement in lubricity and harms the thermal stability and anticorrosion properties of the formulation. 3. Complexes of molybdenum based on a succinimide have a high level of thermal stability and good detergency and antioxidant properties; hence, they can be recommended as additives for oils to be used in high-performance engines.
